Armadillo Palace

This week Jonny and I wanted to experience a little more of Texas. Someone told me that we needed to go to Good's Armadillo Palace, saying they have the best BBQ, burgers and live bands around. Well, we looked it up and it was only 15 min away from our place, so we left for dinner. When we got there, their was this HUGE glass plated Armadillo in the middle of down town Houston. It turned out to be a Bar, with live music and western theme. I thought it was funny because you have to be 21 to get in, they never even thought twice about me. Being married really helps people respect you and take you seriously I have found out. ( ITS GREAT )

Well we both ordered their famous hamburgers, Mine at least was sooooooo good had everything on it and a huge basket of fires.( picture of it below) We stayed talked and ate till there was no more room. It was fun to just get out and grab a hamburger that was really good and enjoy our night together.
We always love trying new places, some we have tried have not made the cut but others have . Good's Armadillo Palace has for sure made the cut. Its a great taest of TEXAS.

To The Rescue!!!!

Saturday we ended up going to George Bush Park and going on a walk, about a mile into the walk I herd a kitten crying. Jonny was talking on the phone when all this happened so he was a little confused of what I was up to, but I ran to the woods edge and started looking for the little guy. Then I see this little kitten that's hiding behind some plants and just looking at me, scared to death. By this time Jonny knew what i was trying to do. I knew that if we left him the little guy would die, and that just was not an option for me. I got him to come close a few times but each time he ran away. We gave him some turkey off our sandwiches, witch he ate right up. It started to get dark so we headed home, Sunday we went back and we found him right were we left him. This time we fed him some hotdogs, but he was still to fast and scared for us to catch him. We decided one last time to catch him, the night before I had a dream that we caught him and named him Lucky. We went out there on Monday after work and we noticed that he was really weak and was not about to put up a fight. I caught him with a fishing net and we took him back to the car then home. He never bit scratched or hurt ether of us, I think he knew that we were trying to help him out. We put him in our tub, and I took him to the vet the next day. We were thinking about keeping LUCKY, he was so sweet, loving and loved to snuggle and purrr. When I took him to the vet I found out that he was around 6 weeks old. I also found out that Lucky had a lot of health problems and that it would be VERY, very expensive to keep him.  After adding it all up it would cost us around $500+ to keep Lucky. Luckily a lady at the vet said that she would take him and keep him. This made me so happy because if I took him to the pound they would have put poor Lucky down. :(
Even though we wish we could have kept him, we are much happier that he is in a better home and with someone that can take care of him. He sure is one lucky kitten. :)

Here Fishy, Fishy

A fisherman lives here, with his greatest catch of his life, who also loves to fish. We went out late Friday night and bought ourselves brand new fishing poles, as you can tell mine is the pink one. We stayed up really late getting everything ready for our little lake adventure. We set our alarms for 7 a.m we all know the saying, "Early to bed ,early to rise."  Well that alarm went off, and we couldn't do it. 12:30 came around and we where ready to go, we got in the car and we where off. We decided to go to a place just close by called Barker Reservoir, we set up shop and started fishing. On Jonny's first cast he caught a fish but when we went to grab it, it was to late. We fished and fished and it was getting hotter and hotter around 105+. We had bought some yogurt covered pretzels  that melted in our cooler with the ice in it!. That's why in the bottom right picture my lips were all white with the yogurt. It was a fun day but a hot one and even hotter it seemed when we where not catching anything. We called it a day by 4 and went home and crashed from the heat. I think I like the saying, " Early to bed, early to rise, fish all day, make up lies" a lot better. We decided that its a lot more fun, if you fish in the water not from the bank. Maybe next time we will catch something good and not have to make up those lies :P

Lights, Camera, Action!

This weekend Jonny and I took our soon to be gone truck for an adventure. We went to the drive in movie theater. We bought an awesome groupon for $10 for two including popcorn and drinks. We saw the new "Man Of Steal" aka Superman movie. It was pretty good, a little far fetched but good none the less. We enjoyed laying in the bed of the truck with our air mattress blown up with blankets and pillows. As you can see we were pretty excited :). We love this drive in theater, its really nice and its a lot of fun just to get out and do something cheep. The second feature that was playing was the new Fast in Furious movie. We ended up not staying because it was already 12 pm and  Jonny had to work the next morning. I enjoy all our little fun things we do, to spend some quality fun time together :)

Even though I would rate superman a 7 on a scale of 1-10, I think that Jared and Ethan would really like it just BTW :P.

Something Special

My sweet, sweet  husband got me the most beautiful necklace ever. I have been saying since we got married that I wanted a necklace with my new initials on it. Well on Sunday morning after I got dressed and was ready for church Jonny told me that he had something to make my outfit even better, then he pulled out this shinny necklace!! :) I was sooo happy he put it on me and we went to church. Mariah Joy Holden MHJ. I love it when Jonny does cute things like this for me, and he does all the time. Jonny is one of the best listeners and surprises you latter.
I sure do love my man :) .

Down By The Bay

One of our latest adventures was driving down to Crystal Bay, we originally went down there to go paddle boarding but that fell through. Our plan B was sprung into action, we decided to go visit the Bays beautiful light house and watch the huge yachts come out of the Bay. As we sat on a board walk with our feet in the water we watched and enjoyed the wonderful weather with storm clouds in the distance it was amazing. We also went to the Crystal Bay Bayou, we where thinking about tubing down that when we where told that that are gators. ( those dang gators make it hard to have fun) So we just enjoyed sitting on the water front watching. Even though our plan A fell through, our plan B adventure was a great relaxing one. On our way back from our little day trip we stopped by IKEA and got a PIE :) it was sooo yummy. It turned out to be a fun day full of sun and kisses :D !!.

ICE, ICE BABY..

There was a chill in the air, when Jonny and I went out ice skating at the local mall. That's right there is un-melted ICE IN TEXAS !!!!! It was a lot of fun we both have not been skating in years, and we both held our own and didn't bust our butts once :). Even though we never fell, we sure got shown up by the figure skaters in the middle of the rink practicing, and of course the 3 year olds practicing for hockey... We played around did a few tricks and got worn out pretty fast, so we hopped over to the Starbucks next door and grabbed a Chocolate-chip Frap. ( caffeine free) SOOO GOOD :)... Our date night was a sure fun one ending with coming home and making dinner together and most importantly just spending time with each other. I always love the little dates we go on, they are always so fun I am excited for an eternity of FUN with my best friend!!!. :)

Saved by Chance

“There are parts of Texas where a fly lives 10,000 years and a man can't die soon enough.”
BECAUSE OF HOW HOT IT IS, ALL DAY EVERY DAY ....

A few days ago after my class I came home and was thinking, " MAN its a really HOT day today!" Then all the sudden I walked into our apartment and it seemed twice as HOT !!! I was so confused the AC was running, or it said it was! It was 2:00 and it was 96 degrees in apartment, not counting humidity.. I WAS DIEING!!!!! Latter when Jonny got off work he saw me and was wondering why all the windows and doors where open. also why it looked like I had just ran a marathon. It was so hot I didn't know what to do, it was 5:45 the office was closed and that means the maintenance guys have gone home. Just then we hear a golf cart drive by ( maintenance drives golf carts) and he ran after it and chased them down. 30 min latter we had cool air!!!! Thanks to my amazingly fast running husband we had AC that night, along with our smoothies we made.

While I was melting away I came across a picture on Facebook, as I saved it I never thought I would be so jealous I didn't have any ice...

Following My Dreams, One Step at a Time !

That's right I have finished my class at Lone Star University and time for a summer break, or so people think. Not for me I am taking another class during the summer session of Lone Star Semesters, this time its math. I know (OH NO) I can already remember hearing my dad trying to teach me when I was in middle school, and it always ended with me, yes crying.... lets just say math is not my friend..but over the years I like to think I have overcome my fear of numbers :P. So far I am doing great and am enjoying my new teacher, hes an interesting fellow he reminds me of Sheldon Cooper off The Big Bang Theory...
After this very short mini semester I will continue following my dream to becoming a Dental Hygienist. I am just taking a few more classes that will hopefully help me get into the program come next fall. I get to apply in February of next year, so im preparing all I can now!  Who knows what the future holds, but I know ill be a Hygienist one day :) !!!

Enjoying our Sundays

Sundays are the best, I recently received a new calling as the 1st Counselor of the Primary Presidency and im loving it. The kids are so cute and I am teaching the month of June. I was a little nervous at first, but I know I have some of the best resources ( my mom, who is a Primary President) I knew she would know how to help :)! The picture above is a picture we took after church :) our lessons went great and it was SUNDAY :) !!!

Latter that day, since it was so beautiful we went to the park and laid out our blanket and read our book together. It was so nice with a breeze out side it was perfect. We are so lucky to have such a nice park right across from our apartments. We are so very thankful for Sundays and the days where we can spend time with each other in the sun :) !!

Slaying Our Dragons..

After testing gyms out in the area, we have finally joined our gym- 24 Hr FITNESS. (I love it and hate it)
Every day I meet Jonny at the gym at 5:45 and we kick our butts for a while, then we drive home resting getting donuts on the way home. ( horrible placement of a doughnut shop)
We ride bikes, run, lift, ect. at the end we like to go sit in the sona for a little bit. We come out gross, but refreshed and feeling better about ourselves :) Our apartment is holding a contest of who can loose the most weight in 90 days. Very few people are doing it, witch boosts our chance of winning the $300!!! So far Jonny and I have lost both about 5 pounds and we hope that we keep shredding if off. :)
