Cub Scouts to the Rescue!!!!!

As many of you know I am a Den Leader for Cub Scouts, witch is part of Boy Scouts of America program. This month our theme is "Compassion." We try and find ways to where we can practice this in our community. We found someone in our ward that is having some health problems and cant plant here own garden any more. She had all the flowers ready to go, they just needed to be planted! The boys, leaders and a few parents all got together and made her walk-way a beauty!!!! I wish I had taken a before picture, because it looked soooo much better after. ( I need to get better at taking before and afters)
HERE is my Troop....

The boys worked so hard and were so excited to help someone in need! Its sad that we will be moving and I will no longer get to work with these wonderful boys! The woman was so thankful and loved her new, pretty path to her door that she could be proud of! It made all the boys feel like, they made a difference when she thanked them over and over. I'm proud to be a part of such leadership where I can help and set a good example to those around me.

Saving Money is the Name of the Game!!

All my life my wonderful mother and sisters taught me the value of a dollar and to save and shop, but for good deal. As posted in a previous post Jonny and I are finally moving into a place were we can call our HOME! Iv been doing a little bargain shopping here and there, as well as a little crafting and this is our findings...

Our first purchase was our couches!!! Jonny and I Love to go yard selling, you never know what you might find!!!! Well one Saturday we went out and found this awesome set. When I asked the guy how much they where he originally said $250 for both, even with it being a good deal already it would not do. While Jonny was ready to get them for $250 I told the guy that we will take them for $150.... next thing ya know...SOLD and I just saved us $100!!!! We washed and cleaned them and I re-stuffed the pillows with new stuffing. See Good as new!!
Our next piece was a old frame that I got at a yard sale for $2!!!! I picked it right up, came home and painted it one of my favorite colors. My plan is to turn it into a cork or magnetic board, when I am finished I will post another picture so you can see. I am so excited to put this up in our kitchen!!!
This one is my favorite!!! I am sooo sad that I forgot to take a BEFORE picture, before I revamped it!! I found this treasure at a yard sale and got it for $5!!! It was a light wood that had peeling varnish and looked really bad. Jonny said he only got it because I wanted it, he thought it was ugly and it was; till I got my hands on it. I took it sanded it down, primed it, sanded it again then painted it black. I added new knobs and put a protective wax layer on it, it looks 100% better than it did Jonny even loves it. This was my first piece of furniture that I had ever redone and I think it turned out GREAT !!!
This weekend Jonny and I stopped in at the local Goodwill, I know, I know I use to snub my nose up to, but Goodwill is actually AWESOME!!! You can find things that are brand new and that are from high brand places. This coffee table is brand new and form IKEA, and it was only $20. I don't know if I will keep it white or if ill paint it, ether way it was a great steal of a deal!!!!
-As of right now we move in to our new apartment in about 2 weeks, so far I think that we got a good start and that its coming together. Who knows what I might find this weekend, it might be a dresser or something!!

Im Acclimated to Texas

Today I woke up and I was freezing, with 3 blankets on me I was hesitant to get out of bed, because of the cold... This is when I  knew that Texas has won the battle of the climate. Outside was an absolutely Beautiful day, the sun was shinning, but the wind was blowing. I decided that it was defiantly a scarf day and grabbed breakfast and headed for class! When I got to the car while turning on the heat I had to laugh at myself and ask, " How cold is it really outside?" Low and behold it was only 45 degrees.... yep that's it, if I were to be still in Rexburg it would be shorts and a t-shirt weather!!!! I'm hopping that when it finally gets to be summer, I wont find it to be as bad as I think it will be. Sooo for ALL of those who have snow or nasty weather, I am sorry!!!!!

Hooked On 3 !

So many shows out there and too many good ones! This was the problem that we faced, but we have narrowed it down to 3 of our favorite shows, The Vampire Diaries, The Big Bang Theory, and Once Upon A Time. Even though Jonny hesitated at first with all three shows, saying that they are to much or girly, he now asks me if we can watch them. Watching these shows is one of our favorite times of the week :)! We get to snuggle on the couch and talk about what happened and what we think will happen next. I love my husband very much and I am so happy that I have a best friend that enjoys watching, cheese shows or movies with his best friend also.

Texas Rodeo

~Sam Houston Texas Rodeo~

Last week Jonny and I went to the Sam Houston Texas Rodeo. He surprised me with buying tickets at work for the Rodeo event then to see " The Band Perry" concert!!!
There was lots of bucking bulls, loads of roping cowboys, and barrel racing horses from all over the country. I was surprised to hear there where so many riders from the state of Utah and Idaho!!!! ( I guess it really is the wild west) The winnings of each event was crazy, just on the barrel racing the winner won $25000!!!!!! It made me want to buy a horse and rethink my carrier choice. The rodeo down here is a huge thing, it lasts for a month and a half with new artist every night. The night that we went "The Band Perry" were playing!
There where lights, lasers, and plenty of fireworks!!! It was great, I did not realize that the band is actually family, its her and her to brothers. They where good, but I think next time I'm going to stick with good old Blake Shelton.... to bad his tickets were sold out.. the good thing is there is always next year !!!
Well the Rodeo was a great experience and I cant wait to go back I am just thankful for my wonderful husband who surprised me with tickets !!! He is a man that knows the way to my heart, horses and country music is where its at!
